MURGUDES' RESIDENCE
When we were approached by Nikhil and Savita to design their first home in Bangalore, the brief was crystal clear right from the start. The young couple who had recently relocated back to India from the US were looking at having a modern, uncluttered, functional space they could call home. This 2100 odd square feet apartment, being a corner unit had to its advantage unrestricted views from its balconies and windows of the sky and the green spaces outside and beyond. The design that evolved was one that tapped into this, giving the space a sense of light, space expanse and openness, which is often seen lacking in modern day apartments. Perhaps the best part of working on this space was the opportunity it provided us to start on a blank slate. The freedom and the trust our clients placed in us also went a long way in allowing us to bring out the best in the space. Every corner of the apartment was designed keeping in mind the broadly outlined budget, catering to the functional requirements as well as the taste of the client. The design that evolved is an amalgamation of a modern aesthetic with some very Indian elements thrown in adding drama and a sense of youthfulness to the space.
